What is SaaS (Software as a Service)? ->
I think those Netbooks are cute, why are they so much cheaper than ultra-portable laptops and notebooks, what's good and what's bad?
Yes they are cute.
Their screens are typically only 9-12 inches (measured diagonally). They are very handy for checking email and doing wordprocessing, or normal spreadsheets, but are not designed as work horses.
- They don't have a built-in DVD or CD drive.
- They can typically only have up to 2GB of RAM.
- Battery life is typically up to 4 hours and they weigh around 1.6kg. As they run Windows XP Home (for now) you can't network them (not as clients to a server, but you can share files & folders).
Can I upgrade from WIndows XP to Windows 7 (the new, 7th release of Windows)?
You will be able to upgrade from Vista, but not from XP. You will be able to save some settings but will have to do a clean install.
Will there be driver conflicts between Windows 7 and my old printer?
Probably, but everyone has tried hard to make Windows 7 more compatible than Vista. Windows 7 will also have a XP mode where you can run older applications. This will take quite a bit of the available processing power.
Office 2010 is just out (June 2010). Should I keep Office 2007 or upgrade?
If you buy Office 2007 between 5 March 2010 and 30 September (E&OE), you are eligible for a free upgrade to Office 2010 , so you have time to try 2007 out first.
